About LakeWatch

Living on a lake is fascinating all year round with the ever-changing scenery, views, and wildlife activity. Trust me, it's often a war zone out there.

Here you'll find a selection of recordings of that activity through time lapses, trailcams, photographs and panoramic shots of the area.

This website is the result of wanting to find a better way to share the output from the various cameras. It started as a bit of a passion project, utilising AI to first build the software to merge, catalogue and tag the TrailCam footage. I then decided to add in other sources before then making the website.

Helmet-mounted equipment for capturing freefall photos and video (from quite some time ago!)

About me

I have always been a keen photographer, although it started with adventure sports and jumping out of aeroplanes as a freefall photographer.

Born and bred on a farm, I have always kept out of cities where possible and love to record the nature close to me.

My photographic history goes back to working extensively with Olympus cameras for adventure sports photography. I enjoyed the early days of digital photography with them, trying out all the new equipment where half a megapixel was seen as amazing.

I later moved to Fujifilm and absolutely love their cameras and their film simulations and recipes but for birds in flight and action photography, I found their focus tracking to be lacking.

I now use a Canon R5 MkII with a couple of long telephoto lenses.

The the 360° panoramic shots are currently taken on a DJI Mini Pro 4 and the time lapses tend to be taken on an iPhone using the Skyflow app, which is fantastic.

I'm using a selection of TrailCams - 4 various Browning's, a NatureSpy Helarctos, GardePro E6 and a TC22 plus a couple of bird-feeder cams.
